Ardha Matsyendrasana ~ Half Lord of the Fishes Pose ~ Half Spinal Twist Pose

  • Begin by sitting on the floor with both knees bent and feet flat on the floor.
  • Cross you right leg over the leftand lower left knee down.
  • Be sure to have bottom completely on floor with sit bones reaching to floor.  If this is not available for you extend left leg out.
  • Have right foot flat on the floor with the right knee up.
  • Wrap your left arm around your right knee.
  • Place your right hand on to the floor outside your right hip.
  • Begin to twist to the right with the belly relaxed.
  • Deepen the posture with arm variations for example, left elbow to the outside of the knee, binding with left arm underneath right knee and left arm behind back to grasps fingers.
  • Inhale and Exhale.  Hold for 5 or more breaths and repeat other side.
