Pose of the Month ~Savasana ~ Corpse Pose

Savasana

  • Find your way on to your back.
  • Lie down completely.
  • Allow the breath to slow down releasing the Ujjayi Pranayama.
  • Have your feet apart and slightly turned out.
  • Have your arms extended out either side of your body with palms facing up.
  • Deeply and consciously relax all joints and muscles beginning from the feet to the head.
  • Stay here 5-30 minutes.
  • When finished roll on to your right side, place your left hand on to the ground in front of your heart.
  • Using the left hand to press up to a seated position, peel up from the earth to sit up tall.
  • Have a moment to reflect.

*Please note that this is an important part of the yoga practice. Savasana is an opportunity for the body, mind and spirit to completely surrender and let go for healing and renewing to occur.
